we realised that there wasn’t a construction-site-ready 5G network available – so we designed one!

PLINX will be powering Plantforce’s ‘connected worksite’ remotely from their stand at Futureworx on the 30th and 31st March in Peterborough. During the event we will be demonstrating the speed and flexibility of the PLINX CONNECT5G system LIVE on the Plantforce stand, as they connect to remotely controlled plant over 100km from the site in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and show a live video and data feed.

‘Showing the deployable 5G network system that we developed for construction sites is a great opportunity to show the art of the possible’, said Tommy Williams, Founder and CEO of PLINX. ‘Our proprietary network connects the PLINX hazard management system, but as we enabled our own smart technology we realised that there wasn’t a construction-site-ready 5G network available – so we designed one!’.

Construction sites are different to other operations sites like manufacturing plants

Construction sites are different to other operations sites like manufacturing plants in that they change constantly as works are started and then completed. Network coverage may need to be adjusted as the project progresses. Power supplies may be difficult or expensive to provide. PLINX’s CONNECT5G networks are designed specifically for construction sites – so that you need only one network AND it can be moved according to your site needs.

PLINX will be exhibiting their hazard management system on stand D3 in the Digital Den at Futureworx. Construction site hazards are numerous and difficult to predict. People-plant interface is a top concern, closely followed by other risks that can cause serious injury to workers, project delays or increased cost. PLINX PROTECT is a real-time hazard alert system to enhance trusted worker-protecting safety systems like training, signage, briefings and PPE wearing.

PLINX will also be exhibiting their AFFECT system, which gathers data throughout each day to reveal previously unidentifiable hazards to site managers, helping them to prevent accidents before they happen. The digital twin of the construction site is now a reality – and so are the opportunities for a step-change in site safety management
